Indoor Air & Water Assessment

Practical options for ventilation, moisture control, filtration and water treatment in your home.

Start with the concern, then choose the work

Tell us about condensation, stale rooms, dust, water staining or changes in taste and odour. Ask for a plumbing and HVAC assessment quote so we can agree on the scope, access requirements, price and appointment before work starts.

This is a building-services assessment. It does not diagnose or treat medical conditions, certify drinking-water safety, or replace specialist environmental testing.

Airflow and moisture

Ventilation and equipment

Discuss the operation and maintenance of bathroom exhaust, kitchen exhaust and existing HRV or ERV equipment. Agree on any airflow measurements or further investigation needed before selecting upgrades.

Humidity and condensation

Measure indoor humidity and look at where condensation occurs. There is no single year-round setting suitable for every Manitoba home. Natural Resources Canada discusses a general 30–50% range with lower humidity in winter. Cold surfaces and outdoor temperatures can require lower settings to control condensation; do not force a 40–60% target during cold weather.

Filtration

Choose filters compatible with the equipment and available airflow. Ask which particles a proposed filter is rated to reduce and what maintenance it requires. Filtration does not replace ventilation or correction of moisture sources.

Water testing and treatment

Identify the supply

Start with whether the property uses municipal water, a private well or a cistern, and review any existing test results. A location, taste, odour or clear appearance does not establish water safety.

Choose the right tests

For drinking-water analysis, use an accredited laboratory listed by Manitoba. Ask the laboratory about appropriate tests, sampling instructions and handling. Confirm whether sampling and laboratory fees are included in the service quote.

Match treatment to results

Consider water-treatment options only for the concerns identified. Check the exact product's certified reduction claims, capacity and maintenance needs. A softener, sediment filter and drinking-water treatment system serve different purposes; no single product removes every contaminant.

Agree on the deliverables before booking

Your quote should identify the systems to inspect, any measurements or tests, what findings you will receive, and the cost of any follow-up work. Equipment installation, repairs and laboratory analysis should be itemized separately when they are outside the assessment scope.

For proposed equipment, request the model, sizing basis, installation requirements, maintenance schedule and written warranty terms. Any permit requirements and rebate eligibility must be checked for the specific project before they are included in an offer.

Discuss your home's air or water concerns

Describe the issue and your existing equipment. We can discuss the next step and confirm service availability.
